Tc99mMAG3QualityChecker
Tc-99m MAG3
Utility description: Tc-99m MAG3
Tc-99m MAG3 Quality Checker — Technetium-99m Mercaptide (MAG3) for Dynamic Renal Scintigraphy
ℹ️ Utility checks critical parameters of Tc-99m MAG3:
• Radiochemical purity (≥90%)
• Free pertechnetate (≤5%)
• Colloidal technetium (≤5%)
• Boiling time control (10 min) — CRITICAL!
• pH, endotoxins, sterility
⚠️ CRITICAL: Insufficient boiling time (<10 min) leads to low labeling yield.
MAG3 has high clearance value; impurities degrade clearance curve quality.
Usage:
Tc99mMAG3QualityChecker.exe → demo mode (console output)
Tc99mMAG3QualityChecker.exe input.csv output.json → evaluate your data
Input format:
BatchNumber,TotalActivityMBq,RadiochemicalPurityPercent,FreePertechnetatePercent,ReducedHydrolyzedTcPercent,pH,EndotoxinsEU,SterilityTest,ReactionTimeMin,CoolingTimeMin,ProductType
Example (sterility: 0=sterile, 1=contaminated):
TC99M-MAG3-2026-022,370.0,96.5,2.0,1.5,7.5,15.0,0,10.0,5.0,RenalImaging
Supported product types:
• RenalImaging — dynamic renal scintigraphy
— WHY IS THIS NEEDED?
Tc-99m MAG3 (Mercaptide) is the agent of choice for assessing Effective Renal Plasma Flow (ERPF):
• Secreted by proximal renal tubules (like hippuran, but with better characteristics)
• High extraction fraction (~50%) compared to DTPA (~20%)
• Ideal for patients with impaired renal function, urinary tract obstruction
• Allows accurate renography and assessment of split renal function
⚠️ CRITICAL:
• Radiochemical purity ≥90% — Low RCP leads to free pertechnetate (stomach/thyroid background) and colloid (liver background), distorting clearance calculation and imaging.
• Preparation Process (Boiling) — Unlike most kits, MAG3 REQUIRES boiling for 10 minutes. Without this, complexation does not proceed completely.
• Free pertechnetate ≤5% — Creates artifacts and increases radiation dose.
• Reduced/Hydrolyzed Tc ≤5% — Accumulates in liver, which is anatomically close to the right kidney, interfering with analysis.
• pH 7.0–8.5, Endotoxins ≤175 EU/vial, Sterility — standard requirements.
Key features:
• Control of preparation parameter (boiling time)
• Assessment of suitability for quantitative analysis (renography)
• Separation of major radiochemical impurities
Critical parameters:
• Radiochemical purity: ≥90.0%
• Free pertechnetate: ≤5.0%
• Colloidal Tc: ≤5.0%
• Boiling time: 10–15 minutes (STRICT!)
• pH: 7.0–8.5
• Endotoxins: ≤175 EU/vial
• Sterility: no microbial growth
💡 Usage tips:
1. To determine RCP, TLC is used:
- System 1 (Acetonitrile/Water etc.): Separates free pertechnetate.
- System 2 (Ethanol/Water etc.): Separates hydrophilic impurities.
2. Strictly observe boiling time. Use water bath or heating block.
3. After boiling, allow vial to cool to room temperature before administration.
4. MAG3 is stable for several hours after preparation, but best used within 4-6 hours.
⚠️ Note: MAG3 is the gold standard for dynamic nephroscintigraphy. Error in preparation (underheating) leads to sharp decrease in study quality, as unlabeled component is excreted rapidly or distributes differently, distorting the clearance curve.input.csv
