Terbium-152 Quality Checker — PET Diagnostics (Ph. Eur., USP)

ℹ️  The utility checks RCP, long-lived impurities (Tb-155/156), free terbium, specific activity.

— WHY IS THIS NEEDED?
Terbium-152 — positron emitter for PET diagnostics (T1/2 = 17.5 h):
• Long-Lived Impurities: Accelerator production often yields Tb-155 and Tb-156 (T1/2 ~5.3 days). Their presence increases patient dose without diagnostic benefit. Limit is strict (≤1.0%).
• Radiochemical Purity: Free Tb³⁺ ion accumulates in bones and liver, creating background on images and increasing dose. RCP must be ≥95%.
• Specific Activity: Must be high (≥50 MBq/nmol) for high-quality PET images with high contrast.
• Theranostics: Tb-152 is used for planning therapy with Tb-149 or Tb-161, so its biodistribution must be identical.

1. Scope

This document defines requirements and functional behaviour for Terbium152QualityChecker used to control: Terbium-152. The utility is intended for QC use and applies deterministic rules, not machine learning.

4. URS — user requirements

9. QA/QC and change control
