Iodine123MIBGQualityChecker
Iodine-123 MIBG
Utility description: Iodine-123 MIBG
Iodine-123 MIBG Quality Checker — Iodine-123 Metaiodobenzylguanidine
ℹ️ Utility checks critical parameters of Iodine-123 MIBG radiopharmaceutical:
• Radiochemical purity (≥95%)
• Free Iodine-123 impurity (≤5%)
• Radionuclidic impurity Iodine-124 (≤0.5%)
• Radionuclidic impurity Iodine-125 (≤0.5%)
• Specific activity, pH (4.0–6.0), endotoxins, sterility
⚠️ CRITICAL: Free iodine accumulates in the thyroid, stomach, and salivary glands, creating high background and artifacts.
I-124 impurity (>0.5%) significantly increases patient radiation dose due to high-energy emissions.
Usage:
Iodine123MIBGQualityChecker.exe → demo mode (console output)
Iodine123MIBGQualityChecker.exe input.csv output.json → evaluate your data
Input format:
BatchNumber,RadiochemicalPurityPercent,FreeIodine123Percent,RadionuclidicPurityI124Percent,RadionuclidicPurityI125Percent,SpecificActivityMBqPerUg,pH,EndotoxinsEU,SterilityTest,AppearanceScore
Example (sterility: 0=sterile, 1=contaminated, appearance: 0=normal):
I123-MIBG-2026-001,98.0,1.5,0.2,0.1,25.0,5.5,60.0,0,0
— WHY IS THIS NEEDED?
Iodine-123 MIBG is used for scintigraphy of neuroendocrine tumors (pheochromocytoma, neuroblastoma) and for assessing cardiac sympathetic innervation (heart failure, Parkinson's disease).
• MIBG is a norepinephrine analog taken up by adrenergic neurons via the NET transporter.
• I-123 (T½=13.2 hours) provides high-quality gamma imaging.
⚠️ CRITICAL:
• Radiochemical purity ≥95% — ensures specific uptake by target tissues.
• Free Iodine-123 ≤5% — requires mandatory thyroid blocking with potassium iodide prior to administration.
• I-124 impurity ≤0.5% — control of cyclotron production quality.
• pH 4.0–6.0 — product stability.
• Sterility and apyrogenicity — mandatory for IV injection.
Key features:
• Control of radionuclidic impurities (I-124/I-125).
• Labeling efficiency assessment (RCP).
• Physicochemical parameter check (pH, appearance).
Critical parameters:
• Radiochemical purity: ≥95.0%
• Free Iodine-123: ≤5.0%
• I-124 impurity: ≤0.5%
• I-125 impurity: ≤0.5%
• pH: 4.0–6.0
• Endotoxins: ≤175 EU/vial
• Sterility: no microbial growth
💡 Usage tips:
1. RCP is determined by TLC (solvent system: acetone or ethanol/ammonia).
2. Patients must be prescribed potassium iodide 24 hours before and after injection to protect the thyroid.
3. Many drugs (tricyclic antidepressants, sympathomimetics) can interfere with MIBG uptake and should be discontinued before the study.
⚠️ Note: MIBG is sensitive to oxidation. The product must be clear and colorless. Turbidity indicates degradation or contamination.input.csv
