Radium-223 Dichloride Quality Checker — Radium-223 dichloride solution (Xofigo®) (Ph. Eur., USP <823>, FDA)

ℹ️ The utility checks activity, radiochemical purity, radon-222 impurity, pH, chlorides, endotoxins, sterility, heavy metals, residual solvents.
ℹ️ Does not use machine learning — rule-based logic only.
⚠️ CRITICAL: Radon-222 (≤10 Bq/mL) — GASEOUS decay product! Container integrity control is mandatory! Endotoxins (≤175 EU/vial) and sterility — mandatory for parenteral forms!

Usage:
Radium223DichlorideQualityChecker.exe → demo mode (console output)
  Radium223DichlorideQualityChecker.exe input.csv output.json → evaluate your data

Input format:
BatchNumber,ActivityMBqPerMl,RadiochemicalPurityPercent,Radon222ImpurityBqPerMl,pH,ChloridesMgPerMl,EndotoxinsEU,SterilityTest,HeavyMetalsPPM,EthanolPPM,AcetonePPM

Example (sterility: 0=sterile, 1=contaminated):

— WHY IS THIS NEEDED?
Radium-223 dichloride solution (Xofigo®) — radiopharmaceutical for treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer with bone metastases:
• Alpha emitter with 11.4-day half-life
• Calcium mimicry — selectively accumulates in bone metastases
• Intravenous administration delivering high local radiation dose to tumor sites
⚠️ CRITICAL:
• Activity 1.1 MBq/mL ±10% — ensures accurate dosing (50–55 kBq/kg body weight) for effective bone metastasis therapy
• Radiochemical purity ≥95.0% — guarantees delivery of alpha radiation specifically to bone metastases, not other organs
• Radon-222 ≤10 Bq/mL — CRITICAL! Radon-222 is a GASEOUS decay product of radium-223 (3.8-day half-life). Radon leakage creates radiation hazard for personnel and patients! Container integrity control is mandatory!
• pH 4.0–6.0 — critical for blood compatibility during intravenous administration
• Endotoxins ≤175 EU/vial — critical for intravenous administration! Exceeding causes pyrogenic reactions
• Sterility — MANDATORY for all parenteral forms! Contamination = unfit for use
⚠️ Special attention: Radon-222 is a noble gas that easily penetrates through micro-defects in packaging. Container integrity control must be performed using special radon detectors. Even minor leakage (10 Bq/mL) creates radiation hazard in enclosed spaces. Endotoxins tested by LAL method. Sterility — membrane filtration method (USP <71>).
Critical parameters:
• Activity: 1.1 MBq/mL ±10% (0.99–1.21 MBq/mL)
• Radiochemical purity: ≥95.0%
• Radon-222: ≤10 Bq/mL (GASEOUS DECAY PRODUCT!)
• pH: 4.0–6.0 (blood compatibility)
• Chlorides: ≤10 mg/mL
• Endotoxins: ≤175 EU/vial (LAL test)
• Sterility: no microbial growth
• Heavy metals: ≤10 ppm
• Residual solvents: ethanol ≤5000 ppm, acetone ≤5000 ppm
⚠️ Note: Utility is designed for quality control of FINISHED INJECTABLE SOLUTION. All parameters comply with parenteral form requirements for metastatic prostate cancer therapy. Radon-222 control performed using alpha spectrometry or ionization chambers. Radiochemical purity determined by TLC or HPLC with radiodetection. Activity measured using calibrated ionization chamber.

10. QA/QC, CSV and change control

  • Before production use, the client records executable version, checksum, specification/monograph version, test CSV, expected JSON and IQ/OQ results.
  • Column names must not be changed without updating the validator and test scenarios.
  • The source CSV, output.json and utility version should be stored together as an evidence package.
  • Any change in control rules must go through change control and repeated OQ scenario verification.
