Utility description: AAS Nickel Hydrogenated Oils
AAS Nickel Hydrogenated Oils — Nickel Control in Hydrogenated Oils
ℹ️ Utility checks residual nickel content after catalytic hydrogenation:
• Nickel (Ni) ≤1.0 ppm
• Source: Hydrogenation catalyst (supported Ni)
⚠️ CRITICAL: Nickel is a strong allergen and has toxicity.
Its presence in food and pharmaceutical oils is strictly regulated.
Usage:
AAS_Nickel_Hydrogenated_Oils.exe → demo mode (console output)
AAS_Nickel_Hydrogenated_Oils.exe input.csv output.json → evaluate your data
Input format:
BatchNumber,OilType,NickelPPM,IodineValue
Example:
OIL-HYD-2026-001,Hydrogenated Soybean Oil,0.5,5.0
— WHY IS THIS NEEDED?
The hydrogenation process of vegetable oils (converting liquid oils to solid fats) uses nickel catalysts.
After the reaction, the catalyst is filtered, but trace amounts of nickel may remain in the product.
• Toxicity: Nickel can cause contact dermatitis and allergic reactions upon ingestion in sensitized individuals.
• Quality: High nickel content indicates inefficient purification (bleaching) of the oil.
• Regulation: Pharmacopoeias (USP, Ph.Eur.) and food standards set strict limits (usually 1 ppm or lower).
⚠️ CRITICAL:
• Limit: Usually ≤1.0 ppm for hydrogenated oils.
• Analysis method: Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (Flame AAS) after oil mineralization.
• Iodine value control helps assess the degree of hydrogenation but does not replace nickel analysis.
Key features:
• Specific control of residual catalyst.
• Compliance with fat and oil quality requirements.
• Simple integration with quality control processes for oil and fat products.
• LabWare LIMS integration.
Critical parameters:
• Nickel (Ni): ≤1.0 ppm
💡 Usage tips:
1. Oil sample preparation requires care: use dry ashing or microwave acid digestion.
2. Flame AAS is sensitive enough for 1 ppm Ni determination.
3. If Ni levels are high, check the efficiency of the bleaching earth stage and filtration.
4. Iodine value in the report is provided as reference information on fat saturation degree.
⚠️ Note: Unlike other heavy metals, nickel here is a process impurity, not an environmental contaminant.

AAS Nickel Hydrogenated Oils —
(Ni) ≤1.0 ppm
AAS_Nickel_Hydrogenated_Oils.exe → демо-режим (вывод в консоль)
AAS_Nickel_Hydrogenated_Oils.exe input.csv output.json →
Формат input.csv:
BatchNumber,OilType,NickelPPM,IodineValue
OIL-HYD-2026-001,Hydrogenated Soybean Oil,0.5,5.0
LIMS LabWare.
(Ni): ≤1.0 ppm
