Utility description: InfraLUM ID Ciprofloxacin

InfraLUM ID Ciprofloxacin — Ciprofloxacin Identification by IR Spectroscopy

ℹ️ Utility checks IR spectrum compliance with reference (Ph. Eur. / Russian Pharmacopoeia) for ACID FORM:
    • Correlation coefficient with reference spectrum: ≥0.995
    • Peak 3050 cm⁻¹ (aromatic C-H stretching): ±15 cm⁻¹
    • Peak 1715 cm⁻¹ (COOH carbonyl): ±10 cm⁻¹ — ACID FORM MARKER
    • Peak 1620 cm⁻¹ (quinolone C=O + C=C): ±10 cm⁻¹
    • Peak 1500 cm⁻¹ (aromatic C=C skeletal): ±10 cm⁻¹
    • Peak 1270 cm⁻¹ (C-F stretching): ±10 cm⁻¹ — FLUOROQUINOLONE MARKER
    • Baseline noise: ≤0.005 Abs

⚠️ IMPORTANT: This utility is designed exclusively for CIPROFLOXACIN ACID FORM.
Ciprofloxacin hydrochloride has a significantly different IR spectrum:
    • Peak 1715 cm⁻¹ (COOH) is absent or significantly shifted (carboxylate ~1580 cm⁻¹).
    • Broad NH₂⁺/NH⁺ bands appear in the 2400–3000 cm⁻¹ region.
Using the acid form reference for hydrochloride will result in false FAIL!

Usage:
InfraLUM_ID_Ciprofloxacin.exe → demo mode (console output)
  InfraLUM_ID_Ciprofloxacin.exe input.csv output.json → evaluate your data

Input format:

  CIP-ID-2026-091,0.9992,3048.0,1716.0,1618.0,1502.0,1268.0,0.0016,KBr

— WHY IS THIS NEEDED?
Ciprofloxacin is a 2nd-generation fluoroquinolone, broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent.
• Structure contains quinolone core, carboxyl group, fluorine, piperazine ring, and cyclopropyl substituent.
• Fluorine at C-6 is the key structural element defining fluoroquinolone class membership.
• Carboxyl group at C-3 is essential for binding to bacterial DNA gyrase.
• Reference spectrum established in Ph. Eur. Ciprofloxacin and Russian Pharmacopoeia FS.2.4.00186.18.
• InfraLUM FT-08/FT-10 instruments are widely used in Russian QC laboratories.

⚠️ CRITICAL:
• Correlation ≥0.995 — strict matching criterion with reference.
• Peak 1715 cm⁻¹ (COOH C=O) — confirms acid form of the substance.
Absence of this peak with other peaks present indicates salt form.
• Peak 1270 cm⁻¹ (C-F) — specific fluoroquinolone marker.
Absence of C-F peak may indicate nalidixic acid (non-fluorinated quinolone).
• Peak 1620 cm⁻¹ (quinolone C=O) — sensitive to metal chelation.
Shift of this peak may indicate complexation with Fe³⁺, Al³⁺, Ca²⁺.
• Noise >0.005 Abs renders spectrum unsuitable for identification.

Key features:
• Uses NAMED TUPLE (record struct EvalResult) —
  eliminates positional field access errors.
• Specification based on Ph. Eur. Ciprofloxacin and Russian Pharmacopoeia FS.2.4.00186.18.
• Control of five characteristic peaks + correlation + spectrum quality.
• Differentiation of acid and salt forms via 1715 cm⁻¹ peak.
• Full LabWare LIMS compatibility.

Critical parameters:
• Correlation Coefficient: ≥0.995
• Peak 3050 cm⁻¹ (arom. C-H): 3050 ± 15 cm⁻¹
• Peak 1715 cm⁻¹ (COOH C=O): 1715 ± 10 cm⁻¹
• Peak 1620 cm⁻¹ (quinolone C=O/C=C): 1620 ± 10 cm⁻¹
• Peak 1500 cm⁻¹ (arom. C=C): 1500 ± 10 cm⁻¹
• Peak 1270 cm⁻¹ (C-F stretch): 1270 ± 10 cm⁻¹
• Baseline Noise: ≤0.005 Abs

💡 Usage tips:
1. KBr tablets must be dry — pre-dry at 120°C before use.
2. Sample concentration in KBr: 0.5–1.0% (w/w).
3. Record spectrum in 4000–400 cm⁻¹ range, 4 cm⁻¹ resolution, 32 scans.
4. Record background spectrum of pure KBr before each measurement.
5. For ATR method, ensure tight crystal-sample contact.
6. Reference spectrum should be obtained on the same instrument under identical conditions.
7. Ciprofloxacin is photosensitive — prepare sample under diffused light.

⚠️ Note: Ciprofloxacin is an amphoteric compound (carboxyl group + piperazine).
Depending on pH and dosage form (tablets, infusion solution, eye drops),
the substance may exist as zwitterion, cation, or anion.
Each form has a unique IR spectrum. Always verify the substance form in the CoA
against the reference spectrum form before analysis.
Piperazine ring gives characteristic peaks in the 2800–2950 cm⁻¹ region (N-CH₂),
    serving as additional confirmatory markers.
